Akshay Kumar's dhoti kurta avatar
As the coach of a hockey team in the 1940s, he'll be seen in traditional attire.
Flying high on the success of Jolly LLB 2, Akshay Kumar is already set to act in his next feature on India’s first Olympic medal after independence, Gold. The film will see the actor playing the role of Balbir Singh, who was part of the three-time Olympic medal-winning Indian hockey team but never got his due as an outstanding player. Since it is set in 1940s India, Akki’s fans will get to see him in a whole new avatar.
A close source tells us, “Akshay plays the role of a coach in the film and will wear dhoti-kurta throughout the film. This is the first time that he will be seen in a costume like this in the entire movie.”
After evoking patriotism through his recent releases Baby, Airlift, and Rustom, Gold seems to be yet another film in Akki’s line-up of patriotic movies. While the second male lead for the movie hasn’t been locked, there were whispers that Farhan Akhtar refused to play the parallel lead.
