Shahid Kapoor's parenting tips
The second-time father tells us how he spends quality-time with his children.
Actor Shahid Kapoor, who’s recently become a father for the second time, has taken some time off work to be with his new-born son Zian. He says that he wants to give his kids as much time and attention as he can.
“I love my daughter Misha, and I try to spend as much time with her as possible, even if that means sacrificing some sleep. I have learnt this from my own upbringing – if you go back to your childhood memories, they’ll help you be a better parent,” Shahid says, adding, “I remember, when I was young, my grandfather would go to school with me every day, even if he was unwell. And that’s what has stuck in my mind. Such small things are very important for children. I ensure that when my children wake up in the morning, they’re able to spend some time with their father.”
So far, Misha has never been spotted in the company of only a nanny – there’s always a parent in tow. Shahid says that that will be the case for his son Zain as well. “These days, children tend to get more attached to their maids and nannies than their parents. I think my children should get enough papa time,” he says.
He adds that he doesn’t think that taking care of the kids is solely his wife’s responsibility. “I shouldn’t think that because I’m going to work, my wife will handle everything at home. It’s important for me to lend a helping hand. Whenever I feel that I am needed at home, I cancel my promotional activities,” the actor says.
