Veteran actress Nafisa Ali diagnosed with stage 3 cancer

Ali, 61, said that she is looking forward to getting better for more years of togetherness with her family members.

Mumbai: Veteran film and theatre actor Nafisa Ali shared a poignant post about being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. In a subsequent post, she added that she has been diagnosed with peritoneal and ovarian cancer.

Ali made the revelation Saturday on her Instagram in which she shared a picture of her with good friend and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who paid her a visit post the diagnosis.

"Just met my precious friend who wished me luck and to get well from my just diagnosed stage 3 cancer," the 61-year-old actor captioned the picture.

In another heartfelt note, Nafisa Ali said that she is looking forward to getting better for more years of togetherness with her family members. "Happy birthday my darling Pia and my children are my reason to get better through my cancer struggle and overcome. It's just going to take its own course with peritoneal and ovarian cancer," Ali wrote.

Nafisa Ali made her acting debut in 1979 with Shashi Kapoor's Junoon. The veteran actor is best known for her roles in films such as Major Saab, Bewafaa , Life In A... Metro and Yamla Pagla Deewana. She was last seen in Sanjay Dutt starrer Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3. Ali is currently a member of the Congress party. Back in 2009, She contested elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre recently opened up about her metastatic cancer. The 43-year-old actress is currently seeking treatment in New York. Actor Irrfan Khan had also revealed that he's battling neuroendocrine tumour and that he's currently in London for cancer treatment.
