Encouraged by the success of Sanju, Fox Star Studios has greenlighted multiple new films including the third instalment of the Jolly LLB franchise and a madcap comedy starring Kunal Khemu, apart from adaptations of The Fault In Our Stars and The Zoya Factor, and Rajkumar Gupta’s Arjun Kapoor-starrer – India’s Most Wanted.
“Despite being given a U/A certificate, which led to a limited number of kids coming in, Sanju is in the race to become one of India’s biggest hits to date,” says Vijay Singh, the CEO of Fox Star Studios.
“We are working on a script for Jolly LLB 3 at the moment. We’re focussing on franchises whose previous instalments have done well because there is a proof of success. But we’re also working on original ideas and book adaptations. The Kunal Khemu film is a very interesting comedy along the lines of Malamaal Weekly, Singh adds.
The studio, which is currently the most successful one in India, is keen on maximising home productions. “We have more control in that case. If it works, we make the most of it, and if it doesn’t, it’s our problem,” Singh says.
