Mumbai: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sizzled at the 70th edition of Cannes Film Festival with her panache.

From rocking the media interaction looks to violating the red carpet rule with élan, she looked not less than a fairytale princess.

The actress’ 2002 cult Sanjay Leela Bhansali film ‘Devdas’ was screened to the public on the Martinez beach, as part of the festival.

This was the very first movie that Aishwarya had brought to Cannes 15 years ago, which was her maiden Cannes appearance then.

Reliving her experiences about her Cannes debut, she said, “We attended the festival not just as artists but as proud representatives of Indian cinema, showcasing a film that meant so much to us. The kind of reception we got for the movie was truly overwhelming and I will cherish it all my life.”

At the screening, the 43-year-old-actress said, “Thank you for coming, and thank you for all your good wishes. It means a lot to me. That’s what makes us do what we do, with such commitment. An actor can only have that craft to experience the fulfillment and that’s what you give to us. It means the world to us as artists. So thank you, Devdas is a very special film. When I came to the Cannes film festival to it, I had the most overwhelming response to our work in the film. We were amazed to arrive in a horse-drawn carriage at the red carpet. It was such a privilege because it was the first time an Indian film was given that kind of a screening here. The ovation that follows remains etched in my memory. Thank you for underlining the 70ths year of the Cannes Film Festival."
