Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have worked together in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.'

Mumbai: Three huge names in the industry collaborating on a single project sounded like music to the ears of the fans, but that did happen when Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar announced a film together.

The trio had posed for a picture and taken to Twitter to announce the news of the film which was to star Akshay in the lead and be jointly produced by Salman and Karan.

Seven months later, there is no development related to the project, with reports of the film being shelved also doing the rounds.

The film was reportedly based on the Battle of Saragarhi story, on which not one, but two projects are in the pipeline, an Ajay Devgn production and a film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starring Randeep Hooda.

After reports that claimed Ajay had sent an emotional letter to Salman expressing shock about choosing a similar subject and requesting him not to go ahead with the project, it seems that the film might not see the light of the day.

We had earlier reported that the film might have been shelved because all the three superstars were busy with several projects.

The fact that Akshay has hired Salman’s ex-manager Reshma Shetty could have been one of the reasons for a rift between the two and subsequent discontinuation of this collaboration. The 'Khiladi' hinted at it in a recent interview.

When asked about it by Mumbai Mirror, Akshay said, “I have not heard from Salman or anyone else about this.”

He, however, said, “Reshma and I are both workaholics. I have always admired her for being such a hard worker. She is someone I always wanted to work with but things didn’t fall in place earlier. This time, we found common ground, hence the decision to begin a new association.”

Fans hoping to see the trio coming together might be a dejected lot, at least for now.
