Vicky Kaushal supports the ban on Pak artists

Vicky Kaushal — the new poster boy of Bollywood says that his stardom is only because of his film Uri: The Surgical Strike and has nothing to do with him even though the film has crossed Rs 230 crores, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s best ever in his lifetime for Chennai Express.

But when it comes to taking credit, the actor seems to be pretty grounded. “I am lucky that I got to be part of (Uri). If the film is good, it makes the actor into a star. It doesn’t happen the other way around,” he admits with a degree of nonchalance.

However, the actor says that the impact of the film is more important than the box office figures. “As a team, you do feel good about numbers and setting benchmarks. But what is more important is that the audience resonated with the patriotism and the tribute we paid through the film,” he avers.

Vicky wholeheartedly supports the decision of not working with Pakistani artists and having any cultural relations with Pakistan in this hour of grief after the Pulwama attack. “This is the time to be united and be with the families of the army men that we have lost. There should not be any emotion beyond theirs,” he opines.

Vicky, whose ‘How’s the Josh?’ dialogue came in for a lot of praise and following, seems to have a certain swag with the line. When asked about the swag, he put forth the swag of Khiladi above all. “During my school and college days, I was an Akshay Kumar fan. His swag was very different. It is even today,” he signs off.
