Popular rapper Badshah, who’s looking to make a foray into acting, reveals that he nearly clinched a deal with one of Bollywood’s biggest producers. But as they say, there’s many a slip between the cup and the lip.

“Karan Johar did offer me something a while ago, but things did not work out as planned. I am getting a lot of acting offers now, but I have not found anything that has excited me. When I get a good role, I will certainly do it,” Badshah says.

The musician adds that he’s not looking for a film that will rest squarely on his shoulders. “I don’t want a big role or a lead role. I want to play a role that is in my comfort zone, where the producer who is putting money into the project feels safe. I will be happy doing such a project,” he says.

Born Aditya Pratik Sisodia, the rapper changed his name in 1999, after the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s hit film Badshah. So some connection with Bollywood seems almost inevitable. “I remember that after Shah Rukh’s Badshah released, everyone referred to him as Badshah. I liked the name and so I kept it,” he says.
