#MeToo campaign a 'fad' to gain publicity, says IFFI jury head Vinod Ganatra
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the ongoing festival, Ganatra said the #MeToo campaign will fade over time.
Mumbai: International Film Festival of India (IFFI) jury head for non-feature films Vinod Ganatra termed the #MeToo campaign a 'fad'. Vinod Ganatra said the #MeToo campaign got attention because of people who are keen on fanning the phenomenon.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the ongoing festival, Ganatra said the #MeToo campaign will fade over time. "It is a fad which has come with time. It is a chance to get publicity and mileage. It will not last. What is authentic will last. What is not authentic will disappear. There are people who encourage it," Ganatra said.
The #MeToo movement gathered momentum in India after actor Tanushree Dutta accused co-star Nana Patekar of allegedly harassing her on the sets of 'Horn Ok Pleassss' in 2008.

Since then, women from various walks of life, especially the media and entertainment industry have leveled allegations of sexual misconduct against various prominent personalities including Subhash Ghai, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Anu Malik, Kailash Kher, Subhash Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Rajat Kapoor and Sajid Khan among others.
The 49th edition of IFFI will celebrate diversity through Cinema as it showcases 212 films from over 68 countries. The event will go on till 28 November in Goa.
