As Kesari goes on to be the highest box office grosser on a holiday that was a non-Friday, actor Akshay Kumar signs another film with his Kesari director Anurag Singh.

“The collections are stunning, to say the least. One has to remember that on Holi, there are no morning shows as many multiplexes and single screens do not want to take any risk. In that sense, a collection of Rs 21.5 crore is a great number. Add to that, it is not a Friday. There is a lot of deshbhakti attached to the film that is ringing in with the audiences,” says a trade analyst.

Interestingly, the Karan Johar backed film is also the highest  first day grosser of 2019 despite having only three-fourths of the day to screen the film.

Meanwhile, the second project that Akshay has greenlighted with Anurag is also based on a real-life story and true incidents. “The film is based on a story that took place in the late eighties. Interestingly, the film has been written by writer Aseem Arora, who had written the television series 21 Sarfarosh —Saragarhi 1897 starring Mohit Raina,  informs our source.

Anurag’s next film will go on the floors in 2020.
