Saif Ali Khan's Kaalakaandi is releasing this year, on this date
Earlier, it was said that due to Saif's poor run at the Box Office, the makers of the film were struggling to get distributors on board.
Mumbai: Directed by Akshat Verma, Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Kaalakaandi’ has been the talk of the town since its inception. After a long wait for the fans of Chhote Nawab, the film’s release date has finally been announced.
On September 8 this year, ‘Kaalakaandi’ will be in theatres.
The film is about six characters, set in one night, and encompasses the dark and bright side of life in Mumbai. From underworld dons to hopeless lovers, ‘Kaalakaandi’ is a bit of everything.
Earlier this year, while talking about the film, Saif had said in an interview, “Kaalakaandi is a film I'm so happy to be a part of! It's a cross-section of Mumbai with underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers all mixed together in this karmic tale about love, crime and living a lifetime in one night. Akshat has written and directed this unique movie and he is probably the only voice who tells it exactly like it actually is. Mumbai is a crazy, beautiful city and he has captured it perfectly in this very fun and very moving film.”
In another interview, during his last release ‘Rangoon’ promotions, Saif also said, “The status is that it is done and Akshat Verma is locking his edits as we speak. It is a very intelligent and a very nice film made at a small budget and hence can be happily made commercial. It is a story about three people of different strata that run across Mumbai. It is the filmy underworld, by that I mean these two Underworld boys - played by Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobriyal, who are involved with the underworld and speak that language. So they have shot that story in a particular way and light. And then they have shot middle-class Mumbai and then a slightly upper-middle-class Mumbai. We are speaking Hindi, Marathi, English... So it is a smattering of what Mumbai is. I am very proud of that. It releases this year.”
Written over a period of two years, with only Saif in mind, Akshat Verma got the actor’s nod in five minutes after completing his narration.
‘Kaalakaandi’ stars Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raz, Kunal Roy Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur and Neil Bhoopalam in crucial roles.
