Playing Batra is a big responsibility: Sidharth Malhotra
The film was shot in Batra's hometown Palanpur, where he learn more about him.
Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani have been roped in for the Vikram Batra biopic, and Sid feels it has been an emotional journey being part of the project.
Titled Shershaah, the movie is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and will be directed by Vishnu Varadhan. Kargil hero Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry award.
Talking about the project Sidharth says, “It’s a very special passion project that took some years to compile that script; it is someone’s life story that inspired me as well. It is quite daunting. I feel it is an emotional responsibility to play that character because the Batra family felt that I can play his role. So it is a big responsibility.”
He adds that the film was shot in Palanpur, Vikram’s hometown. “To meet his brothers and go to his house, the memories of his house, it is emotional. We can’t show every aspect of his life, but we are trying to get the essence of it. I think it’s one of a kind biopic, and it has all the trappings of the commercial film. It has a love story, action, and family issues.”
Meanwhile, Kiara Advani also has an interesting part in the film, and is more than happy to showcase Vikram’s love story. She will be playing Sid’s love interest in the film.
