Mathura: Makers of the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Toilet- Ek Prem Katha', which is being shot here, have landed in trouble with locals and religious leaders demanding action against them for wrongly depicting a local tradition. They also have objected to the movie's title.

A 'Mahapanchayat' was held in Barsana village here on Monday in which Brijbhumi saints and locals demanded that a scene in the movie be deleted as it is "against tradition".

The scene shows marriage between a boy and a girl from the twin villages of Nandgaon and Barsana.

"Marriages between the residents of the two villages are not solemnised since the age of Dwapar. The scene would be an attack on the tradition,"  Ghanshyam Raj Bhatta, the convenor of Brajacharya Peetha Oonchagaon (Barsana), said.

Earlier, pradhans of 22 villages nearby Barsana had passed a resolution demanding removal of the marriage scene.

A delegation of saints, pradhans and community members would meet the district magistrate and demand removal of the scene and changing the movie's title, local community leader Kishan Singh Gurjar said adding they will not hesitate approaching the high court, if the demand is not conceded.
