Is Bhansali's next a remake of 7G Rainbow Colony?
The 2004 bilingual project, 7G Rainbow Colony released in Tamil and Telugu and was a success at box office.
When the bilingual romantic drama 7G Rainbow Colony released, it went on to become a box office juggernaut. Even though the film was a tragic love story, there was enough content to made the audience fall in love with the characters. The bilingual project was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, the latter being titled as 7G Brindavan Colony. In the subsequent years, the film was remade in Odia, Bengali and Kannada and it did well in all the languages.
It seems Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is back from a short hiatus after his last film Padmaavat, has taken the rights of the film.
“There is a buzz in the trade that SLB and T-Series have taken the rights of the film. There is no official confirmation that it is a remake and the makers are searching for a date in the second half of the year to release the movie,” says a source from the film trade.
The filmmaker had earlier announced that his niece Sharmin Segal (daughter of Film editor Bela Segal) will be making her debut in his film production, which would be directed by Mangesh Hadawale, the man who helmed award-winning Marathi film Tingya and the much acclaimed Dekh Indian Circus. The film is likely to be a musical and would see another newcomer making his debut - Meezan Jaaferi, son of actor Jaaved Jaaferi.
The film is being bankrolled by T-Series.
