Ever since Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s firstborn, the lovely Sara Ali Khan, made it known that Bollywood is her chosen field, rumours of her signing one film or the other has been making the rounds.

Latest reports have suggested that Sara has signed on Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2, the sequel to the 2012 hit Student of the Year, which gave the industry Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. More reports then emerged that Saif had ‘confirmed’ the same. However, a source close to Dharma Productions has refuted the movie being Sara’s launch vehicle.

“Saif has done no such thing,” the source bursts. “Saif has only said that Sara will make her debut in a Dharma film. That’s a fact. Saif didn’t say anything about Student of the Year 2. Karan has taken on himself the task of introducing Sara to the silver screen. During the last one year, Karan has offered every Dharma movie to Sara, including Karan Malhotra’s comedy with Hrithik Roshan, which has now been shelved, and Student of the Year 2.

However Sara turned it down, and here’s why. “It’s very clearly a two-heroine and one-hero film with Tiger Shroff playing the male lead,” the source says adding, “Sara will make her debut only in a solo heroine film. Karan is very anxious about Sara’s debut, given the media pressure. He’s taken on the responsibility of introducing her, and he wants Sara to be as successful as Alia Bhatt. The correct vehicle for Sara’s debut is awaited.”
