Mumbai: With the increasing number of films releasing every year, clashes are bound to happen at the box office.

2016 saw ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and ‘Rustom’ sweat it at out at the cash house and the results are a part of tinseltown folklore now. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’ collided head on at the Diwali box-office and the mother of all clashes happened this year during Republic Day, when Shah Rukh Khan took on Hrithik Roshan.

At times like these, when there are more films and lesser Fridays, the industry is wary of big tickets clashing.

Sanjay Dutt is no different, since his highly sensationalised comeback is extremely crucial for his career.

The actor’s ‘Bhoomi,’ was all set to clash with Aamir Khan’s home production, ‘Secret Superstar,’ starring his ‘Dangal’ girl Zaira Wasim and himself in a quirky cameo.

Sanjay has asked his producers to postpone his film to avert a clash with his good friend.

"Dutt doesn't want to clash with Aamir since they go a long way. We have seen that no matter how professional people act, box office contests eventually get dirty, even between close friends [hinting at the ping-pong comments between Hrithik-Rakesh Roshan and SRK-Ritesh Sidhwani]. Moreover, Aamir's is a small budget film, riding solely on content. A star clash could affect it,” Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.

"I know the kind of hard work and effort that goes into making a film. I believe, after all the work being put in, it can't be reduced to a clash at the box office. Aamir is a dear friend and I wouldn't want my comeback film to be pitted against his. In this industry, we should all make an effort to help each other,” Dutt was quoted as saying.

That’s very much a prudent decision, we would say.
