Crime branch executes warrant against Mamta Kulkarni
The legal actions could pave the way for the seizure of the duo's assets and sending of RCN requests to Interpol.
Mumbai: Thane Crime Branch sleuths executed a warrant, issued around a fortnight ago by a Thane special court, against former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni by affixing it to her last-known address in Andheri on Friday. The warrant was issued in the case wherein 20 tonnes of the banned ephedrine and 2.5 tonnes of acetic anhydride was seized from a pharmaceutical factory in Solapur.
Thane sessions court had declared Kulkarni and her husband Vicky Goswami proclaimed absconders and also issued warrants under section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against them. The legal actions could pave the way for the seizure of the duo’s assets and sending of RCN requests to Interpol.
Police said that there was no response from Kulkarni after the court issued the notice. “A team went to her residence, however, nobody was found to be staying there and hence we pasted it on the door. Further action will follow,” said Abhishek Trimukhe, deputy commissioner of police (crime).
Officials said that as per the warrant, Kulkarni has a time of 30 days to appear before the investigators, failing which, the authorities can move for attaching her property in the case.
