Karan Johar and Sushant Singh Rajput

Sushant Singh Rajput seems to be in the midst of an unlucky spell. His dream project Paani with Shekhar Kapoor has been aborted, and his space film Chanda Mama Dur Ke has been postponed indefinitely. The latest we hear is that his film Drive with Dharma Productions is also in trouble. Deep trouble.

According to sources in the know, though the film is almost ready for release, producer Karan Johar is not happy with the end product.

“Karan has already sent the film back to director Tarun Mansukhani for re-shooting, twice. But he’s still not happy with the output. At the moment, the future of the film is uncertain. Karan is not willing to release it the way it has shaped up,” says the source.

This is not the first time that Karan has had creative differences with his protégé Tarun. Back in 2009, the producer gave Mansukhani the green light to make a sequel to his film Dostana with Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Katrina Kaif. But the project was shelved when Mansukhani could not come up with a satisfactory script.

The release of Drive has already been postponed twice – from 2017 to March 2018, and then to September 2018. But it seems unlikely that the film will make its current release date.
