Dostana sequel in the works

When Dostana released a decade ago, it was the talk of the town. Dostana fans can rejoice as the film that set serious bromance goals is now going to have a sequel. But not everything’s going to be the same. Tarun Mansukhani, the original director, has been replaced by Karan Johar. Apparently, Tarun had earlier come up with quite a few drafts for the sequel only to be rejected by Karan as they weren’t impressive enough. Now, Karan has decided on a new team to pilot Dostana 2, headed by Colin D’Cunha, a former assistant director to Rajkumar Hirani in Sanju and Advait Chandan in Secret Superstar.

While fans will be quite eager to see the John and Abhishek pair back on screen with another actress, one is not sure whether the same cast can be locked for the film.

While John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra won the hearts of fans in Dostana, one isn’t sure if the same cast will feature in the sequel.

“Karan has some mega projects lined up for release like 2.0, Kesari, Brahmastra, Student of the Year 2, Kalank and the Gunjan Saxena biopic. So he wants the new director to handle everything including the casting,” informs a source.

While there were rumors that Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor may be seen in the sequel, these were quickly put to rest by Karan.
