Single but not ready to mingle
Working with Hrihik Roshan in Kabil that time was special for me, says Yami Gautam.
Yami Gautam, brilliantly dealt with her character in Vicky Donor and in Kabil, she donned the character of a blind girl opposite Hrithik Roshan. Now working in URI, she has chopped her locks for the character. while the actress is willing to add dimension to her reel- life, her real-life personality remains the same.
Being born and bred in Himachal Pradesh, Yami is very proud to be called the hill girl. So in her next film URI, will the actress shed her image of the girl next door? She replies, “The girl next door who I am in real life...I would not like to break away from this in my life nor will I ever run away from these tags. Having entered into the world of glitz and glamour and being an actor, I have to add various dimensions to whatever character I get to perform on reel. Also that’s my job indeed. Being calculative never works for me,” she says. And adds, “This year for URI, it has been an experiment for me. I cut my hair. People may feel like I am trying to break my image, but for me as an actor it’s just adding different dimensions to my reel character.” she avers.
So what is it like for the actress to visit her roots? “Though, I love organic farming. I don’t get to visit this place often. Also whenever I reach this place, it’s near Mandi, I drink the fresh water we get there. We have no water filters here. I keep these enticing visuals in mind and enjoy them with my closed eyes too. Also whenever I am home, my mother keeps showing me the lovely and fresh vegetables that we get from there. That’s the one thing I enjoy the most out there, since there is no network, we are out of reach for the world…”
So would Yami love to work with Hrithik again and when will it happen? “I would love to work with Hrithik. Whenever there is a certain script that may suit us, I will surely be approached,” she smiles.
Reminiscing about working in Kabil with the Greek God (Hrithik), she blushes and says, “Working with him was special for me and these memories will always remain in my heart and mind. I learnt a lot working with Hrithik. I would love to do a film with him again.”
On her celluloid journey she quips, “My journey is still on. So I do not know what to say except that it has been very enriching and interesting. There may be ups and downs, but I feel that during these ups and downs that everyone faces, we need to stick to our personality. We may experiment in different roles but we cannot deceive ourselves. You need to be yourself always.”
Marriages in B-town in 2018 have filled the calendar, so is she planning her wedding? Pat comes her reply, “How many marriages can the 2018 calendar accommodate? The calendar is already filed with marriages keeping the media busy. So spare me please. I am single. I will remain single until I get married…At the moment I have no plans for marriage.”
