Why Kartik Aaryan's pricey and choosy
His film Luka Chuppi crossed over 50 days at the box office coinciding with Kartik's 50 per cent fee hike.
With filmmakers writing scripts for younger actors, Kartik Aaryan seems to have become one of the most important choices to cast in such love stories and romantic comedies.
While the actor does take a cut in his price like other stars while working with the bigger filmmakers, his billing has gone up after the success of Laxman Utekar directed Luka Chuppi.
The film crossed over 50 days at the box office coinciding with Kartik’s 50 per cent hike in his film fees for future projects.
“There were very big films around Luka Chhuppi like Badla, Captain Marvel and Total Dhamaal, which was a total comedy film. Still, Luka Chuppi stood its ground and that is one reason why he is now a preferred actor. After Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, everyone had made a beeline for him including Imtiaz Ali whose film billed as Love Aaj Kal 2 would feature him alongside Sara Ali Khan. He is also in the Pati Pati Aur Woh remake for BR Studios. So he has hiked his price to keep away a lot of filmmakers who he does not want to work with,” says a trade source.
When a star quotes a heavy price for a film, much more than his market rate, it means that he does not want to do the film- old jungle saying.
