Leena Yadav’s much-awaited Rajma Chawal featuring Rishi Kapoor, which was to be released on August 31, has been postponed. The film’s talented director says, “We are not ready for release. We are in the post-production phase, between sound mixing and colour correction. Hopefully, the film will release soon”
But sources say that that’s not the real reason for the delay. “Films with older protagonists do not have a market. Rishi Kapoor is a fine actor, but Kapoor & Sons wasn’t a success because of him. It did well because it featured young favourites like Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan. Whereas the more recent Mulk, which had Rishi Kapoor playing the lead, didn’t do as well as expected in spite of excellent reviews. No 60-plus actor barring Amitabh Bachchan sells at the box office. Look at Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 and Anil Kapoor’s Fanney Khan — both disasters!”
