I am not blessed with a great body: Disha Patani
Disha Patani talks about her rigorous training for Bharat, working with Jackie Shroff and her dance number with Salman.
Once considered an outsider, Disha Patani has been making leaps and bounds in her career. The actress made her Bollywood debut with M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, and will now be seen opposite Salman Khan in Bharat.
According to the actress, it’s important to make the right choices in one’s career. She says, “Since my first film, I have been choosing what I want to do. You have to choose the right scripts. You shoot for a year and it’s a lot of work. You have sleepless nights, so it should be worth it. It is important to pick the right one. Nobody does a film if they don’t like it.”
Disha is quite the fitness freak and has often been spotted working out. This makes her the perfect choice for Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat where she plays a gymnast.
The actress reveals the struggle that she went through to get into the skin of the character. “The reason Ali called me was because he had seen some videos of me doing flips on Instagram and they needed a girl who could do all that. So, after saying yes, I had to train for two months before the shoot started. I went through rigorous training and it was scary,” she informs us.
The modest actress also insists that staying fit is an ongoing process for her. “I am not blessed with a great body. It’s not like I can eat everything and then, still look good. I have to work hard. I work hard in gymnastics. I really had to work on a diet and go to the gym,” she adds.
Disha is often in the news for her rumoured relationship with Tiger Shroff, though the duo themselves have not made it official yet. The actress will work with Tiger’s dad, Jackie Shroff in Bharat and she can't stop gushing about him.
She says, “He is the busiest person on this planet. He is one guy who has never taken a day off in his life. At this age, look at his dedication. I remember shooting with him. We used to pack up by seven and after pack up, he would go for the dubbing of his animated film. And he does that at four in the morning and the next day, he is back on sets again. He doesn’t sleep. I doubt he has any time.”
Meanwhile, the actress’s dance number with Salman Khan in Bharat is trending. However, she says that she wasn’t intimidated by working with him.
“It wasn’t intimidating working with Salman, but I was excited. I don’t know if I will ever get this opportunity again. When I was told it’s Salman sir, I thought there will be an age gap. But in this film, he’s shown to be of a younger age and it was exciting. He is such a nice person, very kind and grounded,” said the Baaghi 2 actress.
She also talks about her love for dance numbers by adding, “I love massy songs. I am a girl who grew up on Bollywood songs. I love item songs and all. This is my first song, which is massy, and it’s with Salman sir. So, I am happy that people have accepted it.”
