Working with Karan Johar will be a learning experience: Diljit Dosanjh
Diljit's next film is an out-and-out Punjabi masala flick.
Punjab superstar Dilijit Dosanjh whose last Hindi film Soorma fetched him rave reviews, is now working towards the release of his new Punjabi film which he says would be closer to what the audiences expect from him. “I’ve always tried to balance out the diverse languages and genres so that there’s a bit of everything in my career. Films such as Sajjan Singh Rangroot in Punjabi and Soorma in Hindi were meant for discerning audiences. When they didn’t become blockbusters I wasn’t disappointed. I am happy with the business that Soorma has done. While making it, we knew the audience would be the one that comes for Jatt & Juliet.”
Diljit’s next film is an out-and-out Punjabi masala flick. “I wouldn’t call it a potboiler. But yes, it a mass entertainer and the kind of cinema my fans expect from me. They will laugh, smile and enjoy themselves and leave the theatres happy. Entertainment has always been my motto,” says Diljit gently and adds, “I will do at least one film in Punjabi every year, not because my fans in Punjab expect it from me but because I that expect from myself.”
The actor will also be seen in Karan Johar’s rom-com Good News where Diljit and Kiara Advani play a couple planning baby. Speaking about his association with Karan he says, “It will be a learning experience for me. I was in the US for my music videos for a month. I’ve just returned and have received the script for Karan sir’s film.” At this point in time, Diljit hasn’t signed anything else. “I am in no hurry to sign films. Music and singing remain my first love.” Speaking on his other ongoing love-crush for Kylie Jenner, Diljit says, “It started as a kind of joke and then I just continued with it. Now I think it has gone far enough.” So did Jenner ever respond to Diljit? “How could she? All my messages to her were in Punjabi.”
