Model-turned-actor Arjun Rampal has slowly but steadily risen up the Bollywood horizon. Despite being surrounded by a lot of controversy lately, Arjun has time and again proved that he is thoroughly a family man. Even though his recent film Rock On 2 tanked at the box office, Arjun is not one to give up hope and now, he is banking on his next release Kahaani 2.

Refuting reports that he was given the police officer’s role in Kahaani 2 because of Vidya’s recommendations, Arjun says, “The media personnel are the ones who make up stories. I am not here because of Vidya. I was surprised when director Sujoy Ghosh came up to me for this role but after he narrated the story, I was convinced that the role is apt for me. The requirement and the suitability of the script brought Sujoy to me, not Vidya.”

Off late, Arjun has not been doing many films. “I have come a long way from my modelling days. Even when I was written off as a non-performing actor, I had given good films. I am choosy about the characters I play and I only opt for those roles that appeal to me instantly,” says Arjun.

On the lines of his hiccups with Shah Rukh Khan, when asked if it is true that, when a well-known star gets upset with any actor, it marks the end of his or her career in B’town, Arjun gets serious. He says, “I don’t think any human being can stop anyone from getting work. I am sure we have been sent here with the blessings of the Almighty. And whatever is connected to our individual persona, we will definitely not be deprived of. “So if the Almighty does not want you to do something, we will not be doing that. And if he wants, we will work. I am happy in my own space getting enough opportunities, so I feel blessed,” he says.
