Big B has carried his stardom well, says Kajol
Surprisingly, post-Dilwale, Kajol went ahead and signed a Tamil film VIP 2 which will is also to be dubbed in Hindi.
She is a star who has ruled the industry with her varied choice of films and immense talent. While we believe Kajol is perhaps the only star that has carried her stardom well, she feels that Amitabh Bachchan has done it exceptionally. “I think the one person who has lived his stardom wonderfully and from whom we can take lessons is Amitji. He is one of those supremely intelligent men who has used his mind to further himself professionally and personally. He is a phenomenon but has used his stature in the best possible manner. Amitji is the epitome of grace and dignity.” Kajol said.
Surprisingly, post-Dilwale, Kajol went ahead and signed a Tamil film VIP 2 which will is also to be dubbed in Hindi. Ask her if she is happy with the scripts coming her way and she retorts. “I was never satisfied with the kind of scripts that were coming because it’s tough to find a good script. I think that’s something, which is not available. I am a voracious reader, and hence for me, a good script must have all the makings of a fantastic book. I should be able to visualise it in my head. Having said that, I have always been choosy.”
She has been one actress who has turned down many films in her career, but she firmly says she doesn’t regret turning down any of them.“No, I don’t believe a movie belongs to me till I am completely involved, and it gets over, it’s not mine. Then, if the film does well or doesn’t do well, it is my film and there’s no two ways about it. If somebody approached me with a story, and I said no then it was an invitation that I refused. That movie then is not mine in any sense,” the 42-year-old said.
This versatile actress comes across as a compelling woman in VIP 2 where Dhanush is her co-star. She says, “Yes, it was a safe bet, but I think I needed that kind of security while risking doing a film in another language. It was a huge thing in my head. Tamil is complicated and an illegible language to me. I was very sceptical not because of the script, but I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do justice to the role. I was apprehensive about speaking and acting in another language. I did not want to be mediocre and wanted it to live up to my expectations,” she signs off.
