Irrfan Khan was asked to compromise for work

Even as Hollywood is still reeling under the Harvey Wienstein controversy, Irrfan Khan reveals that he was asked to compromise during his initial days as well.

Without taking any names, he says, “I have been invited to sleep with both female as well male directors for work,” says Irfaan. The actor later went on to say that it all boils down to saying no. “Such indications are given to both men and women, but women face it more. Yes, if it’s happening without consent or forcefully, then it’s extremely saddening,” he sighs.

The actor went on to add that such “sexual exploiters” should be exposed. “If I know that I am doing it because I will get something out of it, then it is a choice. But if there is someone who does it repeatedly, then it has to be called out. It is necessary to talk about him or her,” he says.

The Qarib Qarib Singlle actor says the casting couch, in many ways, is a reflection of our society. He says, “If our society is such where the women are more powerful, the men will be exploited. So exploitation is not the key factor, it’s the suppression.”
