The Rani Laxmibai biopic Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is facing serious financial hurdles. According to sources close to the development, the film has already gone over-budget with still a long way to go.

A source informs, “The film is proving to be far more expensive than initially planned. Kangana wants every moment to be spectacular. She wouldn’t settle for any second-bests. Only a Sanjay Leela Bhansali can afford it in today’s day and age. But Kangana doesn’t listen.”

The latest reports coming in from Hyderabad suggest that Kangana will be billed as  ‘co-director’ along with Krish Jagarlamudi, who helms the film. “She is definitely contributing substantially to the look and execution of the film. She has shot very little for the film as she was busy promoting Simran. Now that Simran is out of the way, Kangana will be joining for marathon schedule of Manikarnika,” says a source from Hyderabad.
