Prakash Jha talks Ashram
The film was screened for the first time at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in Goa.
Director Prakash Jha is known for making exceptionally moving films like Gangaajal and Satyagraha, and his latest film Pareeksha is no different. The film was screened for the first time at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in Goa, and the director had to fly down from Ayodhya, where he is filming a web-series named Ashram with Bobby Deol. Updating on the status of the show, Jha says: “I will complete the entire shooting of Ashram in Ayodhya itself within the next two months. I shall be completing the entire shoot and shall be ready with it by the end of April 2020.”
As for the idea behind Pareeksha, the director shares that it all came from former DGP and educationist Abhayanand, who was also behind the Super 30 programme. “The story of Pareeksha focuses on the Indian education system and the aspirations of parents who wish to give their kids the best life and best education possible. This is the story of a rickshaw puller who takes children from well off families to school. He always wants to educate his own children as well. So what all he does as a parent to educate his kids forms the crux of the story,” he explains.
Meanwhile, Jha also cleared up rumours about a Satyagraha sequel, saying that there won’t be one. “But I am ready with two scripts, one is based on the subject of the police, and the other is based on socio-economic conditions. The details will be disclosed once we finalise the scripts,” he concludes.
