Mumbai: After facing several delays, the highly-anticipated Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer '2.0' has released worldwide today.
The sci-fi film, directed by S Shankar, has been the talk of the town for a while and now, fans will finally see superstar Rajini in an iconic role. In '2.0', Rajinikanth reprises the role of Dr Vaseegaran/Chitti he had essayed in 'Enthiran.'

The superstar, who has collaborated with the filmmaker on a number of projects, said the director never fails to entertain the audience and meet their expectations.
As the release day has arrived, Rajinikanth took to his Twitter to give his best wishes to the team on social media and wrote, "Three cheers to team 2.0. The magnificent day has arrived."

During the trailer launch of the film, Rajinikanth had described the film as a tech marvel which packs a magic and which will lead it to success.
"I am telling you today, take my words, it is going to be a super duper hit film," he had earlier told the crowd present at the event.

Reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 500 crore, the film is tuted to be one of costliest Indian films ever made. '2.0' is a spiritual successor to 'Enthiran' released in 2010.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is the new addition to the franchise and plays the antagonist. Tamil superstar Rajini and Akshay share screen space for the first time.
The film also has Amy Jackson playing the female lead along with Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in pivotal roles. The music has been scored by double Oscar winner A R Rahman.
