Ranveer Singh is certainly the blue-eyed boy of both—the filmmakers as well as of his ever-growing fans. Currently basking in the success on the personal and professional front, he has definitely had a bagful of great films. With Simmba rocking at the box office and having received both rave reviews and jam-packed cinema halls, we wonder what’s next for Ranveer in 2019?

It is needless to state that all eyes are stationed on his next film Takht, that has a stellar cast including Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. It is being produced by Karan Johar who is not only a brilliant filmmaker but has a great business sense too.

For Ranveer, who has known Karan for a while now and has worked with him on Simmba, reveals that when the latter offered him the role in Takht, he got to see a completely different side of him. “He is a lighthearted man in his demeanor, but behind that, he is a serious and passionate filmmaker.  Here’s he offering me a film and there’s something different about him.  His eyes are different; his body language is different, and his voice is different. I saw a different side of Karan that was a complete revelation to me. There was just this sheer great desire to make this film,” reveals the actor. He adds, “I have always regarded him as a creative force of nature.  He is a writer, director, producer, actor and he’s so multifaceted and a genius. I always wanted to be directed by him.”

Having shown his talent in period movies like Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani, Ranveer has a hold on how to mould himself in the characters of yesteryears. Although for Karan, who is known for directing elaborate family dramas, making a period movie would be challenging. However, Ranveer believes that with Takht, the director-producer is not far away from his genre of forte. “People don’t understand that K3G is a family film and it’s about internal dynamics of family and Takht is same at its core. What period it’s set in? And what costumes they are wearing? The world is just a decoration. At the core, it’s a family drama about love, greed, ambition, betrayal, brotherhood, and dynamics between father, son, brothers, and sisters — all this compiles the essence of the story,” elucidates the actor.

Ranveer is all praises about Karan’s magnum opus and the stellar cast, he quips, “The story is on such delicious scale and there’s so much meat in it. It’s going to be special because he has a stellar cast.  I have worked with Alia and Anil Kapoor before. Vicky is somebody whom I wanted to collaborate with; Kareena is someone who I am crazy about, and Janhvi is so promising and also someone who I am keen to work with. Moreover, Bhumi took my auditions in Band Bajaa Baraat and now she is working in this film. It’s crazy and this is damn exciting.”
