The Allman Brothers Band frontman, Gregg Allman who passed away last week due to liver cancer, was laid to rest on Sunday near the grave of his late brother Duane and his band mate Berry Oakley, who both died at the age of 24. A private funeral was observed where the rock star’s close friends, family and band mates attended and paid their respects.

There was a service at a small chapel to which Gregg’s ex-wife Cher was in attendance, before the group of 100 people moved to the Ross Hill Cemetery in Macon.

Fans lined the street from the funeral service up to the cemetery, playing Allman’s music and even wearing Allman Brothers shirts. E! News reports that a source told them that former president Jimmy Carter also attended the funeral.

Emotional eulogies were given by family members and the Rolling Stone magazine reports that as requested by Allman’s estate, the mourners who attended the event turned up in jeans instead of the traditional suits that are worn for such services.
