The 51-year-old will be taking over from Vanessa Kirby as the Queen’s glamorous younger sister, reports DailyMail.co.uk. The recasting Vanessa Kirby, who played the part in the first two seasons, came in order to continue the story and timeline. The award-winning star was being eyed up to play Elizabeth in the show following the departure of Claire Foy, but bosses decided she’d be better suited to play Margaret, while Olivia Colman will play the matriarch.
Helena is no stranger to the royals. She played the Queen Mother in the critically acclaimed movie The King’s Speech and in 2012 she was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to drama.
