Madonna has announced that she has adopted twin four-year-old girls — Esther and Stella — from the African country of Malawi on Wednesday, posting a photo of her with the two of them on Instagram.

“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family. I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media please to respect our privacy during this transitional time,” Madonna captioned the post.

According to Dailymail.co.uk, the singer had been questioned “at length” by Malawi authorities during the adoption process that took two years to complete, as the girls make it four children that she has now adopted from the country.
