With the documentary on Heath Ledger, I Am: Heath Ledger,  coming up soon, there has been a lot of talk about the late actor once again. Now, friends of the actor have spoken about how, in the final days of his life, he was “desperately unhappy”, reported Dailymail.co.uk.

Heath was all of 28 years when he passed away from an accidental overdose in 2008. At that point of time his daughter Matilda was just two years old

The actor’s sister, Kate, one of the last people to talk to Heath before he passed away, spoke to People. Kate reportedly spoke about how the actor had a chest infection and she warned him to be careful while mixing medicines. “The night before he passed we were joking and laughing because he was threatening to take out little sister (Ashleigh) to get her nose pierced and then he said, ‘I’ve got to go. I’ll call you at 8.30 in the morning.’ I told him ‘I love you’, and that was it (sic),” Kate said.

Singer Mia Doi Todd, a friend of the late actor, said that Heath wasn’t able to stand being away from his daughter and so he threw himself into his last two roles. Heath also confided in his friend and vocal coach, Gerry Grennell. Gerry was quoted, “He missed his girl, he missed his family. He was desperately unhappy... He wasn’t sleeping well and he was taking sleep medications, but they weren’t working. He said, ‘I’ve got to stop’.”
