Fergie responds to backlash
Twitter users had described her version of the national anthem as jazzy, blues-inspired and sexed-up.
Fergie has released a statement after she was criticised for her performance at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles on Sunday.
HollywoodReporter.com reported that the singer said, “I’ve always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.” Fergie released the statement 18 hours after she had performed in front of stars such as Beyoncé, Cardi B, Chris Rock, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Jimmy Kimmel, Kevin Hart and Chance the Rapper and prominent basketball stars.
