I feared not being believed, says Abigail Breslin
Actress Abigail Breslin on why she didn't report her rape and how she is still struggling with PTSD.
Little Miss Sunshine actress, Abigail Breslin spoke up for the second time about being raped, in an Instagram post, explaining why she didn’t report the assault when it actually happened.
The 21-year-old actress shocked everyone when she first revealed, earlier this month, that she was assaulted. In the recent post, Abigail revealed why she felt pressurised to stay silent after the attack.
She wrote, “First off, I was in complete shock and total denial. I didn’t want to view myself as a “victim” so I suppressed it and pretended it never happened. Second of all, I was in a relationship with my rapist and and feared not being believed. I also feared that if my case didn’t lead anywhere, he would still find out and hurt me even more (sic).” The actress also added that she was afraid about how hurt her loved ones would be when they found out about the assault and so decided to keep quiet. Abigail also opened up about how she was diagnosed with PTSD a year-and-a-half ago and how she is still struggling with it, reported DailyMail.co.uk.
