Party-goers at an event in Auckland New Zealand were in for a surprise, when someone they thought was Grammy-winning singer Lorde took stage to perform.

Tweeting about it, one person wrote, “When you go to No Lights No Lycra and the last track is Lorde performing Green Light LIVE (sic)”.

However, the singer denied ever going to the event, replying to a thread on the social media platform that had tagged her and confirmed that the person was just an imposter.

She tweeted, “this is deeply fake news but quite cute lol (sic)”. Fans also chipped in with a few jokes of their own about the situation, with one user tweeting, “Name a more iconic Auckland hoax than @lorde performing (not performing) at No Lights No Lycra (sic)”.
