Sunita Rajwar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s former girlfriend has sent him a legal notice of Rs 2 crore for tarnishing her image by fudging up details about their break up.

After actress Niharika Singh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ex-girlfriend and ‘first love’ Sunita Rajwar, a noted TV and theatre personality, also slammed his book An Ordinary Life, which was recently withdrawn by the actor. But the controversy seems far from dying down. Sunita, who had earlier written a long Facebook post calling out Nawaz for lying about why they broke up, a few days back sent him a legal notice demanding Rs 2 crore as compensation for causing great mental agony and seeking to tarnish her image.

The copy of the seven-page legal notice, which Sunita shared with The Asian Age, notifies the actor, the co-author Rituparna Chatterjee and publishers of the book. The notice states that the fact claimed by Nawaz that she dumped him because he wasn’t successful, is merely a figment of the actor’s imagination.

By portraying her as someone “who drove Nawaz to think of committing suicide”, the book has defamed her, she says. She also alleges the false portrayal was meant for publicity and adding masala. She claims that while withdrawal of the book establishes that Nawaz had been lying, the move means nothing, as it is available at major e-commerce sites and the larger damage has already been done.

Informing all the parties involved, the notice says that they all have committed an offence under the section 499 of Indian Penal Code and have rendered themselves liable to pay for the damages. The notice states that Rs 2 crore will be used by her not for personal gains, but will be donated for charity. It also demands an unconditional apology.

Sunita, a 1997 graduate of National School of Drama in Delhi is also a married woman now, and says her Facebook post and the legal notice state everything that there is to say. However, on much prodding, she answers why she chose to file a legal notice now. “I had already mentioned earlier that I am going to take legal action because damage is already done and it’s irreversible, and moreover the withdrawal of memoir turned out to be a another gimmick as book is still in circulation,” she says informing that she hasn’t spoken to or met Nawaz in last 16 years or so.
