Many fans went berserk when he finally came on stage to deliver his first live performance in the country but not many were impressed with him lip-syncing to his own songs. The pop star left a lot of his fans, who had travelled all the way across the country, disappointed by delivering a not-so-live performance.

“We were waiting in the afternoon heat for a long time just to watch him perform live, but it was all very futile because he just lip-synced! I paid Rs 7,700 for the tickets and now I’m wondering it would’ve been better to watch him on TV,” complains Brinda Thakker, a 24-year-old fan. When on stage, Justin performed many songs from his album Purpose and also a few older ones. “When he started singing Cold Water from Purpose, we thought he’d continue singing, but then again he went back to lip-syncing and he wasn’t even doing that perfectly. How difficult it is to remember your own songs, I wonder?” she exclaims.

While the cost of the ticket doesn’t pinch 17-year-old Dhawani, she says she was heartbroken when she couldn’t see the singer perform live. “I was at the concert just for the thrill of watching him perform live, but I was highly disappointed. Watching Justin lip-syncing to his own songs just broke my heart!” she complains, adding, “He said we were the coolest people, I’m sure his fans would’ve been happier if we got to watch him sing more than just lip-sync.”

His fans aren’t all that angry about the concert. Many Beliebers still choose to be loyal to the singer. Avantika, a 23-year-old fan, wasn’t all that surprised to find out that Justin was lip-syncing to his own songs. “So what if he was lip-syncing? He is a performer and is on tour. How is one to perform for two-three hours straight? We are making a big deal out of this. We need to cut him some slack,” she says.
