Music for the homeland
Once KSHMR exploded on the international electronic music scene, he went on to associate with some of the biggest international producers.
This isn’t the first time KSHMR is visiting India. While the electronic music producer has performed in the country in the past, this year marks his maiden tour in India; and he couldn’t have been more excited. Crediting his music to the Indian culture, Niles Hollowell-Dhar (better known by his stage name KSHMR) says that the tour has been due for a long time now. “There’s so much influence from my heritage and my music and to finally be back in India, where so many of my fans have resided for so long and to give them a full tour, is really important to me and really special,” he says, grateful.
Once KSHMR exploded on the international electronic music scene, he went on to associate with some of the biggest international producers. And even as he performs all around the world, there is something about the country that keeps bringing him back. “I think the Indian crowd brings in excitement and a fresh outlook on dance music in general, but especially for me because of my roots I feel so much warmth and love there,” he says.
The DJ, who will be performing at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on October 29, opens up a bit about the set he will be performing there. Saying that he is keen to include some new music in his set, Niles says, “Considering how it is my maiden solo tour in the country, the show is really special to me. So, I felt the need to create new exclusive material that I’m going to debut here!”
With the country seeing some of the biggest pop stars performing just this year (Justin Bieber and The Chainsmokers), Niles is sure there will be bigger performers coming in soon. He believes this is because of the massive fan following these artistes have here. “Well I think even the biggest artistes have to respect the importance and sheer massiveness of India,” he says, adding that the world of music is closer now than ever because of the Internet. “There are fewer borders now thanks to the Internet, and its near limitless connectivity.”
