Niles Hollowell-Dhar, better known as KSHMR, is possibly one of the foremost DJs in the world. The Indo-American record producer and musician was ranked 12 in the list of top 100 DJs in 2016. KSHMR collaborated with the likes of Mickey Blue and Tiesto only this year, and even played at the Mainstage of Tomorrowland. A quick chat with KSHMR about his musical favourites:

One song you have on repeat on your iPod: The one song I have on my iPod is The Man by The Killers from their new album.

Is there a song you love to listen to when: You’re happy and upbeat? It’s still going to be The Killers’ The Man!
You’re really low? Probably Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, or the first half of Abbey Road by The Beatles
You’re working out? I really love to listen to some of the hip-hop music from the Bay Area. There’s a guy name Little B who I grew up with, who makes really good just fun music to work out to. Some of it’s kind of dumb, but it’s the music that I grew up with, so I have a special place in my heart for Little B and hip-hop music that came out of the Bay Area. I also really enjoy listening to Juanes, who is a Colombian singer.

Music you loved as a kid or a teenager, and you’re now embarrassed by when you think back: Some of the really emo music that I used to listen, the darker stuff like Korn. And not exactly dark but Limp Bizkit who had a real precipitous fall from grace. I wouldn’t say I am embarrassed but I certainly have lost my affinity for that music. You won’t find me listening to Korn or Limp Bizkit. Well Korn maybe.

You would describe your taste in music as: I think my taste in music is very weird, very eclectic. I really love classics like Queen, The Beatles, and Frank Sinatra. I really just pick and choose, and my taste is certainly without borders. It can be a very disruptive car ride with me when I’m allowed to play the music that I want to hear!

One band or musician that you would like to perform a private concert for you: It would definitely be Paul McCartney. He was my favorite Beatle, and he’s still alive so it’s theoretically possible.
