Shalmali Kholgade rose to popularity with Pareshaan from Ishaqzaade. She has now ventured as an independent artist and has released her first singe titled Aye, which is on gender equality. If you had to put together a soundtrack for your life, which five songs would best describe your life and why?
Baar Baar Din Yeh Aaye, Baar Baar Haan Bolo Yaar Haan, Congratulations and Celebrations, Pareshaan, Papa Kehtey Hai Bada Naam Karega, and Yeh Jo Desh Hai Tera to mark the several benchmarks in my life.

How would you describe your taste in music:
My taste in music is ever changing. I never always stick to one particular genre of music for too long.

Your favourite time/way to listen to music during the day:
I am, on most mornings when I’m free, found with a cup of coffee and a knitting project and that is always accompanied by either a tanpura on which I do my riyaaz.

Is there any music you used to love as a kid or a teenager that you’re now embarrassed by?
I used to listen to a lot Spice Girls, but I’m not really embarrassed by it.
