Quirky dressing is in and both sexes seem to love IT

Ranveer Singh’s clothes can be turned outlandish but they grab attention and have been the talk of the town! Be it Muppet pyjamas, fluffy loafers, a printed bathrobe, cowboy hat, glares, tight fitting shirts, pedal pushers, floral printed jackets and pants — there is no look he has not tried and got away with. The question is, is the actor setting a new fashion standard for men and how many agree with his taste or follow him

What is without doubt is that Ranveer’s quirky dressing style has legions of admirers both male and female. Actress Nikki Galrani is a fan of Ranveer’s style statement and reveals that she feels a kinship with him. She candidly states, “Every woman notices the way a man dresses; a man’s dressing sense conveys a lot about his personality and each person’s style statement is different and unique. I like the way Ranveer Singh dresses up because it makes a statement. I like how he plays with and teams his clothes because that is something I do myself. One needs a lot of confidence to carry off that style and not everyone can pull it off. You also need to believe and be comfortable in what you wear.”

Mollywood actor Govind Padmasoorya has never been averse to trying out different styles be it a T shirts, tucked pants, sleeveless jackets or traditional styles. His latest anchoring stint has him donning some very carefully mismatched custom made jackets in colors like yellow, Violet, light purple or neon colors that one does not normally don. He says, “I wanted to come up with a very different look so I changed the way I look and dress. My show has kids as well as elders so I did not want to look too casual or too uptight! I don custom made body fitting jackets in color combinations that are unusual and fresh. I feel I have a physique as well as the cosmopolitan looks to carry off these colors and I personally believe if you have a good physique you right away gain 50 per cent confidence and the rest is your attitude.”

Hyderabad-based designer Shravan states that the clothes that Ranveer dons reflect his attitude, “I feel it is a manifestation of his ‘I care a damn attitude’ and even if I were to admire the dressing sense, it is a bit extreme. It is important to know the mood and then dress accordingly. I cannot go to an airport in a pyjama but I can go to a friend’s party in it! I think it Ranveer’s clothes could be an attention grabbing technique meant to stand out.”
