Mumbai City FC will hope to continue their good run of form against Atletico de Kolkata as they face the 2014 ISL champions at home on Tuesday.
The Mumbai club have made a terrific start to the 2016 season and are the only team to have not dropped a single point this season. They have beaten FC Pune City and NorthEast United FC in their previous two games.
On the other hand, Atletico, who are also unbeaten so far this season, won their last game away from home against Kerala Blasters and are expected to mount a tough challenge.
Mumbai coach Alexandre Borges is upbeat about his team’s chances against Kolkata. Alexandre feels Mumbai have to improve defensively to continue with their good run of form.
“We are all very pleased with the start of the season, for us it is a total different feeling,” said Alexandre. “We have to improve and not give easy chances to rivals, in the first two games we did very well but we gave them chances. If we reduce that margin, it will make us even stronger,” added Alexandre.
A lot is expected from Mumbai’s marquee player, Diego Forlan. The Uruguyan created the solitary goal against Pune and scored the winner against NorthEast. However, Kolkata’s coach Jose Molina feels Mumbai have more match-winners other than Forlan.
“I don’t like to focus on one individual; they have other good players in the team. There is no special plan only for one player,” said Molina.
“We know we have come to play against a strong team, they have played two matches and they have won both, it is a very good beginning, they are a strong team,” added Molina.
Tuesday’s tie is also vital as victory for either team will take them to the top of the league.
