Your home is where your heart is! The interiors of your home are both adorned with beautiful artefacts as well as objects of utility and purpose. With the modern approach to interior designing, a lot of objects are placed as per your convenience and aesthetic preferences. At times, however, some important Vastu aspects are overlooked in the process, resulting in a lowering of the positive aura in the house.

The main essence of Vastu Shastra is to attract positive energy into a physical space. The guidelines and principles of this age-old traditional Indian architectural science can be used to ward off the negative energies in your house and give it a life of its own. Each and every object used in the house has energies of its own. The correct placement of the object in the right zone of Vastu helps in emitting positivity.

Is it really possible to bring a change in the behaviour of family members or the growth pattern of their career with some important changes in the placement of household items Yes, it is. The following examples elaborate exactly how Vastu perfections can help improve the quality of your life and attract wealth, health and happiness:

Television set The main source of recreation in the house can be ideally placed in the Vastu zone of Recreation and Fun, i.e. the East-North-East zone. It is advisable to avoid placing it in the South-South-West zone of Expenditure and Wastage as it can result in losses. The TV can also stop functioning properly and may need frequent repairs. TV in the West-South-West zone of the house also affects the concentration of the children and results in poor grades.

Computer Computers can be placed in different Vastu zones of the house depending on the type of purpose they serve. For instance, if you need to use the device to watch devotional content, you may place it in the North East zone of Meditation and Clarity. It is important to avoid placing your growing child’s computer in the North-North-West zone as it is the zone of Attraction and Sex, hence leading your child to misuse the computer for viewing adult content.

Washing Machine A washing machine symbolises churning and the East-South-East (ESE) zone is the zone of churning or Analysis in the house. Hence, the ESE is the ideal zone for placing your washing machine. Avoid placing it in the South zone of Sleep and Relaxation as people tend to become restless with anxiety.

Air conditioner An air conditioner can be placed in most zones of the house; however, the North East, South East and South West are considered inappropriate zones for placing it.

Dining Table The best place for eating hearty meals with your family needs to be selected with great care. According to Vastu, South East and South-South-East are among the preferred zones for best digestion and happy meals for a family. The different zones in the house have different effects on appetite and eating behaviour. Hence, it is important to address the Vastu symptoms prior to placing a dining table.

Mirror It is important not to use certain zones when it comes to placing a mirror as it represents the water element. The South-East, South-South-West and South West zones are considered bad for placing a mirror or dressing table.

Bed Vastu always recommends every family member to sleep with their heads in the South or the East direction. It is advised not to keep one’s head in the North direction. It is also critical to note that different family members are advised to use different bedrooms as per their age and need.

Study Table The best zone for placing the study table is the West-South-West zone of Education. Also, placing a study table in the North zone of the house is preferred for students preparing for career-oriented examinations such as MBA, IAS etc.

Sofa The ideal place for adding a sofa set or creating a lounge area for sitting and social gatherings is the East. North East is also a good zone to sit with family and discuss matters. Another good zone for a drawing room or a family room is the South zone of Relaxation.

Safe It is always advisable to have the safe or locker in your home facing the North zone. This zone is considered the Vastu zone of Money and Opportunities. It is also governed by Lord Kuber, the Hindu God of wealth and fortune.

Dustbin The ancient Vastu scriptures do not talk much about the right placement of the waste basket or dustbin in the house. However, modern Vastu experts advise that the dustbin should be placed in the East-South-East, South-South-West and West-North-West zones of the house. Each zone in a house is suitable for different objects. It is important to understand the purpose and properties of each object and which zone would suit it the best.
