New Delhi: The price of non-subsidised LPG has been reduced substantially from January 1, 2019 due to the fall in its price in the international markets and the strengthening of the rupee against the dollar.

The price of non-subsidised LPG in Delhi will decrease by Rs 120.50 per cylinder from January 1, 2019. Therefore, the upfront cash payment by consumers of domestic LPG will also come down by Rs 120.50 per cylinder. The domestic LPG consumer will now be required to make an upfront cash payment of Rs 689 per cylinder in place of Rs 809.50 cylinder at present.

“As domestic LPG prices are subsidised by the government, the effective price after subsidy for the consumer will reduce by Rs 5.91 per cylinder (from Rs 500.90 in December 2018 to Rs 494.99 for the month of January 2019),” the Indian Oil Corporation said on Monday. The reduction is on account of the GST impact on the decrease in prices of non-subsidised LPG.

The balance amount is borne as subsidy by the Centre. Union government and is transferred to the bank accounts of LPG consumers after the purchase and delivery of a refill. In a year, a household is eligible for 12 subsidised LPG cylinders.
