UP district SDM shoots himself with guard's gun
Lalitpur SP Om Prakash Singh said that the SDM had returned home and ordered lunch to be laid.
Lucknow: A sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) posted in Lalitpur district commi-tted suicide on Sunday by shooting himself with the gun of a home guard posted at his residence.
Lalitpur SP Om Prakash Singh said that the SDM had returned home and ordered lunch to be laid. Just then he went out and asked the home guard for the weapon saying that he wanted to see if it worked.
“He then went to his room and fired on his chin killing himself instantly. We have been searching for any suicide note but have not found any so far. His family which lives in Moradabad has been informed and is expected to arrive soon. The post mortem is to be conducted,” said the Lalitpur SP.
It may be recalled that earlier this month, a 30-year-old IPS officer Surendra Kumar Das, posted as SP (East) in Kanpur, had attempted to commit suicide and died five days later on September 10 during treatment.
