UP woman cop hangs self, blames her seniors

Lucknow: A woman constable, posted in Barabanki district, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house.

The body was found on Sunday morning when another constable who had been trying to contact the deceased on phone, came to see her when his calls went unanswered.

The police have found a suicide note, in which the deceased Monica has said that she was being mentally tortured by her senior police officers.

Monica, a 2016 batch constable, belongs to Hardoi district but was posted in Haidergarh in Barabanki.

The body has been sent for post mortem and SP V.P. Srivastava said that Station Officer Haidergarh and one more police personnel had been sent to lines.

Former SP minister Arvind Singh Gope said that the incident pointed to the state of affairs in the police force and the inability of top officers to address the same.

This incident is the second one in the past four days. A woman police constable Anita Singh had committed suicide by hanging in Muzaffarnagar, four days ago. She was also a 2016 batch constable. The reasons behind her suicide are still not known.
