Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account hacked, abusive tweets posted
Many Congress leaders came on Twitter to question the safety of digital data, which they say the government is assiduously promoting.
New Delhi: The official Twitter account of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was hacked multiple times on Wednesday evening with a series of offensive and abusive tweets appearing on his timeline. The hacker changed the name of Mr Rahul Gandhi’s twitter handle to expletive names. The account was first hacked at 8.45 pm with four malicious tweets about Mr Rahul Gandhi and his family. Just after the malicious tweets, when the IT team of Congress was restoring the account and deleting malicious tweets. The tweeter handle was again hacked at 9.15 pm. This time the hacker posted morphed pictures of Mr Rahul Gandhi and series of abusive tweets and meme.
The Congress hit back hard saying that such actions will not deter the Congress vice-president from raising issue of the poor. Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted saying, “Such unscrupulous, unethical and rougish conduct of venal trolls to hack reflects a disturbing insecurities of prevalent fascist culture.” The Congress will also be filing an official complaint with the cyber cell.
Mr Surjewala also added the “pre meditated hacking smacks of a sinister conspiracy to abuse, intimidate”. While the government in the last couple of days has been laying emphasis on going digital, Mr Surjewala chided the government and said “Hacking proves lack of digital safety around us. Every digital information can be accessed, altered, morphed and modified.”

The issue has the potential of being raised in the both houses of Parliament. A meeting of leaders of the Congress of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha is slated before the start of the session Thursday morning.
